A number of issues pertaining to the village ground, pollution, problems of farmers, roads, unemployment and garbage were raised at the Gram Sabha of Surla Panchayat in Bicholim taluka on Sunday.
Sarpanch Vishranti Surlakar welcomed the gathering while Panchayat Secretary Mahadev Naik presented the report of the previous Gram Sabha. Deputy Sarpanch Bhola Khodginkar, Panchas Sahima Gawde, Dinesh Madkaikar, Subhash Fondekar, Shanu Surlakar and Suchita Gaonkar were present at the Gram Sabha.
Locals complained that the government had not been successful in getting a road for houses in Mestwara-Surla and were upset that they had been deprived of proper road access. Sarpanch Surlakar assured to take a decision in the matter.
Some sports lovers expressed displeasure that there was no place for children to play as the ground in the village was closed for some unknown reason. They demand a ground be made available in the village.
Sarpanch assured to serve the people only after winning their trust. “The panchayat will always be with the people for any work in public interest,” said Surlakar.
