The Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) on Monday inaugurated the Automated Diesel Dispensing System (ADDS) at a petrol pump in the KTC depot at Vasco.

Vasco MLA and KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida inaugurated the ADDS in the presence of officials from KTCL and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

The inauguration was followed by a programme to plant saplings.

The ADDS adopted by KTC is one of its kind in India and will be utilised at the KTC depot for all KTC buses based at the Vasco, Porvorim and Panaji depots.

Speaking to the media, Almeida said the ADDS was taken up in association with IOCL who were supplying fuel to the Kadamba Transport Corporation since the last 35 years.

“I am happy that the ADDS service is launched and it will help conserve fuel and stop fuel wastage,” said Almeida.

Stating that the project has cost around Rs 1.2 crore, Almeida added that Goa and KTC are the first in India to adopt the ADDS system full-fledged, though Maharashtra State Transport Corporation had taken up ADDS on a trial basis.

“The performance of KTC will improve with the ADDS. The ADDS system works via computer and all KTC buses of the depot along with their numbers and driver details are pre-fed.”

Besides this, every bus tank and pump fuel pipe has systems and sensors fitted in such a way that diesel can be dispensed only after the nozzle is inserted in the diesel tank of the bus.

Details of the bus along with quantity of diesel will be uploaded immediately in the system.

Only authorised KTC buses can get fuel from pumps at KTC depots.

Almeida said the ADDS would prevent KTC buses from other depots to load fuel at a petrol pump of a different depot, till the time they received authorization and approval from the depot manager.

“Besides, we can monitor the average fuel economy of the buses based on when buses were fuelled and how much fuel was loaded. If we feel that the performance is decreasing, we can send the bus for repairs. We will also have RFID tags for buses and drivers in this ADDS system,” said Almeida.

The KTC chairman said the sometimes KTC buses load diesel at a different depot and it is time consuming to get details.

“But with this automation system, it will almost be online. This system is also connected to GPS and very soon we will have GPS installed in all KTC buses and this will automatically generate the statement of kilometers used and the diesel used by the bus driver,” Almeida added.
