The Vasco Traffic Cell has intensified its action against two-wheeler riders using modified or “rocket” silencers, which cause excessive noise pollution and violate traffic regulations.
Since the beginning of January, authorities have booked 56 cases against violators caught using these illegal modifications.
The special drive, aimed at curbing noise pollution and ensuring public safety, is being carried out under the supervision of PI Shailesh Narvekar of the Vasco Traffic Cell.
Speaking on the crackdown, officials reiterated their commitment to enforcing the law and warned that strict action would continue against those flouting regulations. Riders have been asked to adhere to standard vehicle specifications to avoid fines and penalties.
Residents and commuters have welcomed the initiative, expressing relief over efforts to reduce noise pollution in the city.
The Vasco Traffic Cell has assured that such drives will be conducted regularly to maintain discipline on the roads.
