Velim wants reasons for not benefitting from jetty
The Velim gram sabha on Sunday posed a question to the Sarpanch as to why the villagers have not benefited by subsidized fish when the Cutbona fishing jetty is located in the village.

This question was raised at the Velim gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Savio D'Silva, who is also the president of the Cutbona Boat Owners Union with members demanding to know why the villagers have not benefited in any way despite the jetty being located in the village. Sarpanch Savio said the boat owners are ready to make available fish to the villagers at the wholesale rate, but hastened to add that there have been no takers to the offer till date. Gram sabha members led by Ramona Almeida also demanded to know the fate of the mobile fish vans launched by the government, pointing out that Velim villagers have not been benefited by the facility.
Mobile towers received thumbs up at the gram sabhas of Loutolim and Macazana on Sunday, while it was 50:50 at Telaulim as the issue of towers dominated the gram sabhas of some of the panchayat bodies.
