VASCO: Cash, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 7.45 lakh were stolen from a house at Pale, Velsao, while the occupants were away.
According to the complaint filed by Lalitabai Rathod of Velsao, the burglary took place between 12.30 am on June 20 and 8.30 pm on June 23 at her residence in Pale.
Police said unknown persons entered the house and broke open the lock of a dressing table before taking away Rs 5 lakh in cash along with several gold and silver ornaments kept inside. The total loss has been estimated at Rs 7.45 lakh.
The incident came to light when the complainant returned home and found the lock damaged and the cash and jewellery missing. She later lodged a complaint at Verna police station.
Based on the complaint, Verna police have registered a case against unknown persons under Sections 324(3) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for house-breaking and theft.
