The Velsao-Pale-Issorcim panchayat organised an awareness programme on Saturday to enlighten farmers in the village on various agriculture schemes, as part of the 'Swayampurna Goa Atmanirbhar Bharat' mission.
Zonal Agricultural Officer (ZAO) Sherif Futardo explained various farming schemes and stressed the need to have a Krishi Card to avail of these schemes from the agriculture department.
Pale Tollem Xetkar Association (PTXA) Chairman Roquezinho D'Souza distributed farmer registration forms to farmers to obtain Krishi Cards, while the ZAO distributed bags to collect soil samples for tests.
Swayampurna Mitra officer Navita Mahatme, Velsao Sarpanch Henrique D'Mello, Dy Sarpanch Sylvia D'Souza, other panch members, Panchayat Secretary Sainath Podwal, PTXA committee members and about 45 farmers were among those present on the occasion.
Roquezinho D'Souza also spoke during the programme, which was also aimed at motivating farmers to revive their fellow fields.
