Vendors asked to stop illegal sale along Davorlim road

MARGAO
City-based NGO Amchem Goem, Amcho Lok initiated a drive against illegal migrant vendors selling fish on the roadside in Davorlim village, metres away from the panchayat ghar.
Members of the NGO, besides a couple of local residents, told the migrant vendors that their illegal activity has come in the way of similar activity by the local Goan vendors.
While the activists initially told the vendors that their activity will no longer be tolerated along the roadside, they later ensured that the vendors completely stop selling fish along the roadside.
Convenor of Amchem Goem, Amcho Lok Felix Dias said that the drive against the migrant fish vendors was taken up since the activity has threatened the livelihood of local fish vendors doing their business in the market.
Moreover, Felix pointed out that the illegal activity along the roadside has resulted in traffic congestion along the main Davorlim-
Areal road.
Felix along with the activists later headed to the panchayat ghar to discuss the issue with the Sarpanch with a plea to put an end to the illegal sale of fish by the migrant vendors.
The delegation returned back since the sarpanch was conspicuous by her
absence.
