The eight-month reign of Verla-Canca sarpanch, Milton Marques ended on Tuesday after a no-confidence motion moved against him and his deputy was successfully passed.
A resolution on no-confidence was passed 5-0 against the sarpanch, Milton Marques and deputy sarpanch, Agascio D’Souza.
Five panch members who had moved the motion were present for the no-confidence even as four panch members including the sarpanch and his deputy “ Milton Marques, Agascio D’Souza, Bala Naik and Sangita Lingudkar remained absent.
In absence of the sarpanch and the deputy sarpanch, senior panch member, Ashok Bhaidkar presided over the meeting.
Former sarpanch, Mohan Dabahale is tipped to be the next sarpanch.
Suryajirao Rane was the observer at the meeting. Panchayat Secretary, Keshav Phadte was also present.
The Verla-Canca Panchayat is a nine-member panchayat.
