MARGAO
Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai has announced to restart his Sunday Dialogue from June 26, at the Goemkar Ghor in step with the party’s commitment to the residents to fulfil the promise of a “Future Ready Fatorda”.
In this respect, the Fatorda MLA has dashed off letters to various officials and has sought the participation of officials in this novel initiative and their help and support in making the party’s vision ‘governance at your doorstep’ come true.
Interestingly, Sardesai has announced the revival of the Sunday Dialogues in interaction with citizens of Fatorda days after a citizens interaction initiative by Margao Municipal Chief Officer Rohit Kadam was postponed at the eleventh hour.
In his letter to officials of various agencies, including the Margao Municipal Chief Officer, the MLA said that suggestions from officials will be invaluable in the planning and execution of various projects that will see Fatorda emerge as the most prominent and well-planned residential and commercial region in Goa. “I hope officials will consider this endeavour important enough to sacrifice Sunday morning to listen to genuine public grievances addressed to elected public representatives, and to debate and discuss how we should shape the future of Fatorda,” he said.
He added: “Attendance of officials for this initiative will be duly recognised and will go a long way to address issues that will be taken up at officers level, and if necessary escalated for an immediate redressal.”
He pointed out that through this initiative, various significant development works in Fatorda have been undertaken and timely executed, after taking suggestions from the citizens and following it up diligently with the concerned government departments. “This democratic model of Development by Consent is unique and has propelled Fatorda ahead of many other constituencies in a short span of time,” he added.
“This is a new term and with a new government, and there is the issue of monsoon preparedness among others that needs to be resolved at a ward level. We have invited the residents of Ward nos. 1-6 of the Margao Municipal Council,” he said in his letter to the officials.
