MARGAO: Asserting that the government will not allow cutting of slopes for constructions, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai has appealed to the local comunidade bodies to take up cashew plantation on barren hills, promising to fund these bodies with subsidies and finance.
"I want to make an appeal to the comunidade bodies to go for cashew plantation on the barren hills. It will not only help maintain green cover, but will also help these bodies earn revenue from the yield," the TCP minister told the media on Friday.
In this context, the TCP minister said that he would sit with the comunidade body on how to convert the hill at Ambaji with cashew plantation. "We will provide subsidies and finance to the comunidades to go in for the cashew plantation. Let the yield go to the comunidade bodies as the cashew plantation can help them earn handsome revenue," he added.
