Saying there is no threat to the Pramod Sawant-led BJP government, Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar on Saturday said Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai is trying to find a political space after he lost out in the political scheme of things.
Ajgaonkar, however, dared Sardesai to form an alliance with the Shiv Sena in the coming elections, exuding confidence he will return to power under the leadership of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
During an interaction with the media on the sidelines of an inauguration of a hotel at Colva on Saturday morning, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena is only daydreaming, adding that the Sena will not succeed in dislodging the BJP-led government in Goa. “Sanjay Raut should forget about dislodging the government in Goa. The Sena and the Congress have only come together to enjoy the post of Chief Minister. Such an alliance will not succeed in Goa. The government in Goa is strong as the Chief Minister is doing good work,” he said.
On Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai’s move to form an alliance with the Shiv Sena and the NCP, Ajgaonkar said the GF leader seems to have lost somewhere in his political journey. “He is trying to make some space for himself as he finds himself lost midway in his journey. But, I do not see that Sardesai will be able to create space for him in the scheme of things”, he said, while virtually throwing a challenge to the Goa Forward supremo to go to the people in an alliance with the Shiv Sena.
Asserting that the Goa government is stable with the 27 MLAs all united behind Chief Minister, the Deputy CM said the government has been able to reach the schemes to the doorsteps of the people.
He said the BJP government at the centre has sanctioned thousands of crores for Goa’s development while asserting that the present government will complete its full term and return back to power after the next election.
