MARGAO
After last week’s political upheaval which saw the Goa Forward Party unceremoniously dumped by the coalition government headed by Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, party chief Vijai Sardesai went back to his fiefdom Fatorda on Sunday seeking the support of his supporters to fight the BJP’s betrayal and threatened to come on the streets to save Goemkarponn.
This is the first time that Sardesai went to his supporters at Fatorda to explain to them how the BJP betrayed the Goa Forward by dropping all the three ministers from the government. He sought the support of his supporters to fight BJP’s betrayal not just in Fatorda, but across the state, and expose the senior coalition partner for backstabbing him.
While party leaders from down South were all present for the meeting held at The Venue hall, supporters in sizeable numbers representing different communities turned up to express their solidarity with their MLA.
While many a speaker offered their full support to the Goa Forward chief to move forward, urging him not to look back, but to take the party forward across the state, Sardesai reminded them that he had fought betrayal in the past with their support and will not shy away from taking on the BJP head on.
The Fatorda MLA pointed out that he did not make a mistake by tying up with the BJP, saying the alliance was formed with Manohar Parrikar to usher in Fatorda’s development. He cited a host of
projects estimated around Rs 215 crore, including the north main sewerage line worth Rs 120 crore which had been initiated by him after the formation of the coalition government.
And, he informed the supporters that many more projects, estimated around Rs 183 crore, were in the pipeline in Fatorda. He threatened to hit the streets if any attempt was made to sabotage the development projects in Fatorda.
“Both Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP Organizing Secretary Satish Dhond were not aware how the coalition government was formed with Manohar Parrikar as the Chief Minister. Now, they have formed a new Goemkarponn government. They have abandoned Manohar Parrikar’s legacy, ” he said.
Saying that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s betrayal has not gone down well even with the BJP workers, Sardesai appealed to his workers to make Fatorda strong before going to other constituencies.
On the question of jobs for the locals in the South Goa district hospital under construction, Sardesai warned that either the land loser should be provided jobs in the hospital or the people will not allow the commissioning of the hospital.
BJP leader from Margao Bhai Naik, Goa Forward leader Mohandas Lolienkar, Ernest Moniz, MMC Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai, Deputy Chairperson Tito Cardozo, Humbert Fernandes and others also spoke at the meeting.
