Reacting to MLA Vishwajit Rane’s tirade against him, Sardesai said, “He (Vishwajit) has in his own mature way tried to convey a message to his High Command. This message may appear to be a threat or a warning or just his own feelings. If you analyse Rane’s comments, it becomes an internal matter of the Congress party. His comments do not concern me at all.”
Without taking names, Sardesai, however, reiterated that he would not like to associate with any one hobnobbing with the BJP, adding “I am not power hungry”.
On Rane’s allegation that the Independents are the B-team of the BJP, the Fatorda MLA shot back, “Do we require a certificate from Rane after four years of sustained opposition politics for which the people of Goa have recognized the three independents. We have won elections at the local level during the last four years. We have won the local body elections against the sustained attack by the ruling party, which left no stone unturned to pin us down.”
When asked whether the episode will affect plans to forge an alliance with the Congress, Sardesai said, “My disappointment was over the failure of the system which we had put in place for floor coordination during the session. I have not named anyone. I fail to understand what was the provocation which made him direct his tirade at me. Politics is dynamic. I do not give much credence to these outbursts. I think this is an internal matter of the Congress party.”
