St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes on Wednesday said the setting up of a Technical Sanction (TS) cell in the Directorate of Panchayats (DoP) has enabled village panchayats to get development works done quickly and efficiently.
Fernandes was speaking while inaugurating the renovation work of Chimbelkarin Talli at Chimbel.
“Earlier, development files would go to the PWD for technical sanction where it would take forever to get approved. However, now that DoP has its own TS cell, files are approved within 15-20 days which has proved to be a major boon for the panchayats in undertaking development in their villages,” said Fernandes, while lauding Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho for this initiative.
Speaking on the renovation of the Chimbelkarin talli, Fernandes said the place has great religious significance as there is a belief among villagers that goddess Chimbelkarin used to visit the place.
“Please keep the area clean and don’t allow anyone to dirty the surroundings,” Fernandes appealed to the villagers, while commending the Chimbel panchayat for fulfilling the long pending demand of the villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, Chimbel Sarpanch Chandrakant Kunkolkar informed that apart from the renovation work, the panchayat has already given work orders for 22 various development works in Chimbel.
“The panchayat will work in coordination with the local MLA and the ZP member to get more developmental works in Chimbel,” Kunkolkar said.
Chimbel ZP member Girish Uskaikar said he has already taken up a couple of works in Chimbel from the ZP funds allotted to him and will initiate more works in the future.
Chimbel Deputy Sarpanch Manisha Chopdekar, panchas Pramila Kunkolkar, Laxman Adkonkar, Mohan Narve, Sandesh Chopdekar and others were present on the occasion.
