This bailey bridge in need of urgent attention

Apart from the Bhatpal bridge on NH-17 road, which joins Bhatpal-Shristhal and Ordhofond-Poinguinim, the bailey bridge is an important link between Sadolxem-Poinguinim and Kindlem.
It not only shortens the route for residents of Sadolxem and Kindlem, but residents of Talpona-Galgibaga in Poinguinim and Kindlem-Rajbag-Ponsulem stretch of CMC have also benefited from this bridge.
According to residents, the bridge was built during the tenure of then chief minister late Dr Wilfred D’Souza, but has never witnessed any maintenance since its construction.
Besides pedestrians, the extremely narrow bridge connecting Kindlem and Sadolxem caters to only two-wheelers and light motor traffic.
“The government should not waste time, but should immediately carry out inspection of the bridge. It has not only corroded badly, but a gap is visible between the approach road and bridge on the Sadolxem side,” said Agnelo Barretto.
When contacted, CMC’s Kindlem Councillor and CMC Chairperson Prathana Naik Gaunkar said she had heard about corrosion on the bridge which is made of iron, but said she was unaware of any gap between the approach road and
the bridge.
