Volvoi man dies of injuries

PONDA: A 65-year-old pedestrian who was injured in an accident at Marcela has succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim.

An offence has been registered against the motorcyclist who dashed the pedestrian, Ponda police said.

Ponda Head Constable Hiralal Shanu Gaude lodged a complaint on behalf of the State that the accused rider, Ulhas Sonu Shirodkar (40) of Mandur-Dongrim, Tiswadi, was riding a motorcycle (GA-07-M-3292), when he dashed into Rohidas Shivaram Naik (65) a resident of Sateribhat-Volvoi in Ponda, while he was crossing the road.

Naik sustained grievous injuries and later succumbed to his injuries at the GMC.

The offence has been registered under Sections 279, 337 and 304-A of IPC.

Murder accused remanded further PONDA: Sidharth Miringkar (44) of Dhavali-Ponda, who was arrested on January 15, in connection with the murder of Bramhanand Mamlekar from Ponda, has been remanded to a further five days in police custody. Collem police informed that he was produced before the JMFC at Sanguem on Wednesday evening. It may be recalled that Mamlekar was found murdered at Tambdisurla on January 8. Mamlekar was stabbed with a knife and his head was found smashed.…
