Several leaders of political parties from the Opposition INDIA bloc on Sunday said voter anger on the ground because of inflation, unemployment and destruction of the State’s environment with unwanted development projects will ensure both their candidates -- Ramakant Khalap (North) and Captain Viriato Fernandes (South) -- will emerge victorious when voting takes place on Tuesday.

INDIA bloc leaders, including GPCC President Amit Patkar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, AAP President Amit Palyekar, NCP (sharad Pawar) President Jose Philip, GFP General Secretary Durgadas Kamat, Shiv Sena-UBT leader Subhash Kerkar along with Khalap and Fernandes, addressed a press conference on Sunday hours before campaigning ended at 5 pm on Sunday.

Congress MLAs -- Carlos Alvares Ferreira and Altone D’Costa -- who are co-ordinating the campaigns in North and South Goa respectively also joined the press conference where Patkar said the ‘sentiment on the ground’ is against the ruling BJP.

Patkar also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government failed on the employment front, although he had promised two crore jobs every year when he first came to power in 2014.

Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao said both Khalap and Fernandes got overwhelming support on the ground throughout the campaign which he said was a well coordinated effort by all the political parties of the INDIA bloc.

AAP State president, Amit Palekar said the fight this election is against inflation, divisive politics and unemployment.

Palekar also took a dig at the ruling BJP, which has seen that the writing on the wall is defeat and was desperately trying to net leaders like former PWD minister, Deepak Pauskar, who they had denied a party ticket in the assembly elections because of corruption.
