CANACONA
A 58-year-old man who went missing from his home in the middle of the night was discovered drowned in a house-well near his residence in Poinguinim, Canacona.
The body of Deepakraj Keni (58) was recovered from a well close to his home at 11:15 am in the morning.
According to sources, Deepak Keni disappeared around midnight on Saturday from his house, prompting his neighbours to launch a search. During the search, someone noticed broken weeds around the nearby well. Upon closer inspection, they found a body inside.
The Canacona Fire Services personnel eventually retrieved the body and confirmed it belonged to the missing Keni around 11:30 am.
Sources mention that the deceased’s face was bleeding when pulled out from the well. The exact cause of death remains unknown, although it’s worth noting that the deceased had previously attempted suicide by consuming pesticide but was saved with prompt medical attention.
Local residents expressed dissatisfaction with the delayed arrival of police personnel at the scene, considering it’s only about 10-12 km from the Canacona Police Station.
