Waste cleared from beach, collected and kept at designated places for pick-up
MARGAO : Though thousands of visitors descended on the Colva beach since Sunday evening to usher in the New Year, with partying continuing throughout the night till the wee hours, the beach stretch was relatively free from waste and litter.
Perhaps for the first time, the beach belt was found relatively clean compared to the past, with the waste collectors ensuring that whatever was collected was kept at designated points.
When The Goan visited the Colva beach on Monday morning, the waste was found collected and
stored at a designated place, with the collectors waiting for the persons concerned to lift it away.
While the beach belt was free from litter, water from the contaminated creek, however, was found flowing on to the beach.

MARGAO Salcete remained relatively accident free on New Year's eve and on Monday as none of the four police stations in the taluka reported any major or minor accident in the last 24 hours.
