Villagers of Folli ward of Guirdolim village on Sunday held a litany at the Cross at the Nogozan Lake.
The Nogozan Lake was in the news over a year ago after the local residents took on the railways during the execution of the double-tracking project.
Former Guirdolim Sarpanch and villager Agostinho Antao pointed out that the villagers did not allow the railways to demolish the Cross at Nogozan Lake which was existing since the sluice gate was built, when the Nogozan fields were created and the mud from fields was used to build the railway tract during the Portuguese regime.
He recalled that the Railways were in the process of shifting the sluice gate by 27 mts from the present tract but the villagers of Folli fought with the railway authorities and foiled the plan and the villagers continued having their annual Litany.
“The people believed that the Cross only saved their Folli ward”, he added.
