This question has come to the fore as skeletons keep tumbling out from the Municipal birth registration office with each passing day, indicating that there s a deep-rooted racket involved in the registration of births at a huge premium.It is suspected that many people have obtained birth certificates upon payment of money to the tune of Rs 50,000 and more to those involved in the racket.The Shadow Council of Margao exposed the civic body when it revealed that the latter had registered birth of an infant who was never born, only showing the magnitude of the racket.
