Seizing the opportunity to push the party's propaganda at the Goa Liberation day celebration here at Kranti Maidan, Industries Minister Mahadev Naik dwelt at length on the various schemes promoted by the BJP government.
Naik was given the chance to hoist the flag at Kranti Maidan, after Sudin Dhavalikar was dismissed from the Cabinet and Ponda MLA was the lone legislator from MGP to attend the function.
South Goa MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar, Additional Collector Damodar Morajkar, Deputy Collector Paresh Fal Desai, Mamlatdar Joao Fernandes, Joint Mamledar Abhir Hede, DySP Sunita Sawant and others were present on the occasion.
During the 20-odd minutes that Naik spoke on the occasion, much of it was to glorify the achievements of the BJP government, with only a brief mention on Goa's freedom struggle.
Incidentally, information on all government schemes had also been highlighted by him during the Vijay Sankalp Mellava in Ponda.
“It was our government which launched the LED bulb distribution in Goa. Even street lights are now replaced with LEDs. One person even told me that Shiroda has turned into a Singapore. This is an acknowledgement by the public,” Naik said.
He said that job recruitments in the industrial sector had been about 6,000 per year in the present BJP government, much higher that the previous 1,800 per year.
“Our priority has been to generate jobs. All seek government jobs and expectations of youth have raised when our government came into power. We will tackle the problem of unemployment within the next two years,” the minister said.
