Panaji Police on Tuesday arrested Jaya Martin Fernandes, 39, in a robbery case registered on February 23 at the residence of her neighbour, Balraj Nandrekar, 41, in municipal quarters, Camrabhatt, Taleigao.
The accused has confessed to committing the theft, Panaji police informed. She has been booked under Section 454 (trespass or house-breaking in order to commit offence) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) of IPC.
In his complaint, Nandrekar had stated that an unknown person pushed open the main door of his house between 11 am and 11.45 am on February 23 and committed theft of two gold rings from the cupboard, a pair of gold earrings and an imitation necklace, with the total loss approximately amounting to the tune of Rs 45,000.
PSI Arun Gawas Desai of Panaji police is investigating the matter.
