The woman who has been arrested by Uttar Pradesh police in the case of alleged illegal conversions was arrested on Friday. Ayesha alias S B Krishna alias Nikki (35), is an Odisha native and lived in rented accommodation in Santan-Talaulim for several years.
She had recently moved to an apartment building in Old Goa along with her family members, some of whom were taken in for questioning after ‘Ayesha’s’ arrest abroad.
She is among 10 people arrested in the case, which UP Police claim involves religious conversions across the country.
‘Ayesha’ managed the finances of this radical jihadi racket and received crores of rupees from America, Canada, London and the UAE in her accounts, from which she used to transfer money to others, UP Police claim.
Her husband Ali Hasan alias Shekhar Rai, a resident of Kolkata and an employee of a court there, worked as a ‘legal advisor’ and was tasked with handling documentation for the conversions to avoid legal implications, UP Police said their investigations have revealed.
