The delay in the withdrawal of monsoon in the State has slowed down work on the interim bus-stand in Mapusa, but the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) is expected to complete the Rs 3 crore project by mid-November.
An official of the GSIDC informed that so far 45 per cent of the work on the bus-stand has been completed.
“Work on fixing of pavers on the floor has been delayed due to the monsoon. But we are trying to complete the work by mid-November,” said Jude Carvalho, General Manager of GSIDC.
The interim bus-stand which will come up in an area of 6,000 sq mt will have a roof-shed for passengers, a KTC office, room for drivers, canteen, kitchen area and a toilet block.
The interim bus-stand will have 50 bus parking bays and a provision for parking has also been made for 44 four-wheelers, 11 tempos, 15 rickshaws and 64 two-wheelers.
A provision has been made for a separate seven-metre wide road to the Mapusa market sub-yard adjacent to the bus bays.
The work on the bus-stand which commenced in February was first delayed due to the second wave of Covid and now due to the monsoon.
