In what could be a major relief to residents of Cansaulim and nearby villages, work to upgrade the Cansaulim primary health centre started recently after remaining pending for quite sometime.

The work which has been undertaken by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has been tendered to Porvorim-based Shilpi Constructions.

According to the contractor, the excavation which has already started will get over in a few days and the total period for the construction of the health centre is 12 months, at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

The construction work of the health centre, which was delayed over FAR issues, was further held up after the panchayat secretary took time in issuing the construction license.

In fact, the secretary Pradeep Tamankar came under heavy criticism at the recent gram sabha for the delay.

The two-storeyed 42-bedded hospital, to be built on a plot of 2,510 sq mts, has a total built up area of 3,849 sq mts. The basement floor of the building shall have a water tank, rainwater harvesting tank, generator room, parking area for 2-wheelers and 4-wheeler, etc

The ground floor of the building shall have casualty, 8 OPD’s, pharmacy, ultra sound room, mammography, X-Ray room, dialysis room, record room, nurses station, etc, while the other facilities will be housed in the first and second floor.
