World blood donor day observed
PANAJI: The World Blood Donor Day was observed with a State-level function organized by the Goa State AIDS Control Society and Goa State Blood Transfusion Council in the Seminar Hall, Secretariat, Porvorim. The theme for this year is 'Blood Connects us All.'
The secretary (Health) Sudhir Mahajan was the chief guest, while Dr Digamber Naik, chairperson of Core Committee of GSACS and Dr Sanjeev Dalvi, director of Health Services, Dr Pradeep Naik, Dean, GMC, Dr Jose D'Sa, project director, GSACS and Umakant Sawant, DD (IFC) GSACS were present.
Mahajan highlighted the importance of blood donation and stressed the need to create greater awareness about it, particularly among the youth.
Rare group blood donors Dr Sanjeev Dalvi, Atul Paidarkar, Vinson Pinto, Welington Monteiro and Ranjeet Waikar were felicitated. Dr D' Sa welcomed while Umakant Sawant proposed the vote of thanks. Sunita Arudra compered the function.
