Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Thursday appealed to young women to enter politics if they feel they have a contribution to be made towards the state and to ensure the betterment of every aspect in the state.

She was speaking to reporters along the sidelines of a function to launch the “Sanitary Napkin vending machine and sanitary napkin incinerator” by Akshay Engineering on International Women’s Day at Lions Club hall at Queen Nagar. Adv Vidhya Shet, ex-chairperson of the state women’s commission and Cortalim Sarpanch Sania Pereira were among those present at the function.

“I want to tell young girls out there that if they feel that they have a contribution to be made towards the state and for the betterment of every aspect of the state, then go and give it your best shot.”

“I never thought I would get into politics, but destiny got me here. I would like to say to all the young girls that if you have got it in you, give it a try and I am sure you will shine and you can be a legislator and make a great contribution to the development of the state and nation at large,” added Saldanha.

She said that her message to all women on International Women’s Day was that

no women should be exploited, ill-treated or disrespected.

“May women grow in capacity with every passing year and may all women convey to the world that they are as good, if not better than everybody else,” said Saldanha.
