Citizens for Restoration of Governance in Goa led by Adv Aires Rodrigues will be having a public meeting today evening at 5:00 pm at Azad Maidan. The meeting is set to be presided over by cardiologist Dr Francisco Colaco. This will be the launch of a series of protests to be held in all twelve talukas to coerce the Chief Minister into resigning, informed Adv Rodrigues, addressing the press at Azad Maidan on Friday.
“The Chief Minister has not stepped down despite giving him a 48 hour deadline to do so,” said Rodrigues.
“It is time for the citizens to hit the streets, and we are sure that we will be successful,” he said. A further plan of action will be announced at the Maidan this evening.
Rodrigues also said that some of the Ministers had assured to support these public protests, although he declined to give out any names. The Congress party informed that they too would be joining in today’s protest.
Citizens for Restoration of Governance in Goa had on Tuesday marched to the personal residence of Chief Minister Parrikar in Dona Paula to demand his resignation. While the CM had not come out to meet them, the citizens were stopped a couple of hundred meters before the CM’s residence by police personnel.
The citizens had then handed over a letter with their demands to sub-divisional magistrate Shashank Tripathi who had accepted this on behalf of the collectorate. While Tripathi had not revealed the health status of the CM, he had expressed that the CM was not in a state to meet the citizens.
