A 26-year-old man was booked on charges of raping a minor girl near Aldona, Mapusa police informed.
An offence has been registered against the accused, Amit Shet, for physically abusing the girl.
As per the complaint reported by the mother of the minor, the accused entered the victim’s house on Tuesday evening and in absence of her parents, allegedly molested her. The victim narrated about the incident to her parents when they returned home and later approached the Mapusa Police.
Following a complaint, police registered an offence under section 376 (rape), 354A (sexual harassment), 354 (assault with intent to outrage modesty), 341 (wrongful restraint), 452 (house-trespass) and 354 B of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and Section 4, 8, and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) against the accused. The accused has been absconding and PSI Dhiraj Devidas is investigating the case.
