Within a week of a drowning death in Calangute, a second such incident was reported when a youth drowned when he went out to swim off Calangute beach on Thursday evening.

The deceased, Toto Zhimo (21), is a native of Nagaland and this has been the ninth drowning case along the Sinquerim-Baga stretch of the coast since June.

Calangute Police informed that four friends studying at Bangalore had arrived in Goa and joined two of their friends, who were already working in Goa.

On Thursday, the deceased along with other friends entered the sea at around 4 pm off Calangute beach.

Suddenly, a huge wave dragged the deceased into

the sea where he drowned, police said.

The body was later washed ashore on Candolim beach.

It may be recalled in a drowning incident, a teenager from Madhya Pradesh died last week when he along with his friends had gone for a swim off Calangute beach.

In a similar incident in June, five tourists from Maharashtra drowned off Calangute beach when they entered the sea along with other friends.

Two other tourists also drowned of Baga and Sinquerim beach in June.
