Sancoale Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar told reporters that an inspection had revealed the number of structures existing in the area in possession of Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited (ZACL).
"We conducted the inspection based on the complaint by Narayan Naik, who claimed that while demolition of structures was being planned, taxes on these structures were not paid to the Panchayat.”
“We have seen a huge colony here and we will ask them to bring their plan because ZACL is paying a lump sum amount of Rs 1 lakh on one house tax number. There is also a bank in the land and also BITS Pilani is on rent with ZACL, but the Panchayat does not receive anything on the additional structures,” said Borkar.
“We will not allow the demolition and will also seek the help of MPDA, if required, to see what we can do now and we will take the future course of action as per law," said Borkar.
Meanwhile, ZACL officials present at the inspection refused to comment in the matter.
