Nuvem’s Congress MLA Wilfred D’Sa on Friday said that there was no move by the Congress to topple the present government.
Speaking to reporters along the sidelines of elections to the post of deputy sarpanch at Nagoa panchayat,
D’Sa, however, claimed that going to the Secretariat was a feeling akin to visiting the cemetery, given the absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and other ailing
ministers.
“Speculation is rife and messages are going viral about former chief minister Digambar Kamat meeting PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar. It had nothing to do with any move by the Congress to topple the present government.”
“Fact is Kamat and I were together at a meeting when he came to know that Dhavalikar had arrived in Altinho. Kamat then visited Dhavalikar to enquire about his health,” clarified D’Sa.
“We don’t need to topple the government. Half of the ministers are missing and the other half are already under severe pressure. There is no need to topple the government as they are already in a mess,” said D’Sa.
D’Sa said many development works had come to a standstill due to the absence of the chief minister and other ministers.
“Earlier, when we went to the Secretariat, it would be teeming with people and there was practically no space to walk. Today, the ministers are not there and there is no public.”
“Walking into the Secretariat today feels like entering a cemetery. All the development works have come to a standstill,” said D’Sa.
“The chief minister had to respond to questions regarding 51 departments headed by him during the recent assembly. Today, he is not around and things are totally different,” the MLA added.
