MARGAO
The feast of St Francis Xavier was celebrated with pomp, gaiety and religious fervour at the Margao district police headquarters on Tuesday.
Parish Priest of Grace Church, Fr Joe Rodrigues, was the main celebrant at the concelebrated Mass held at the Margao police station premises. In his homily, Fr Joe exhorted the faithful to emulate the example of St Francis Xavier, reminding that St Francis Xavier did not only preach the good news, but became the good news.
Present and retired police officers and their family members participated in the Eucharistic celebration. Margao Sub-divisional Police Officer, Margao DySP Serafino Dias, and police inspectors, Kapil Nayak, Gurudas Kadam, Melson Colaco and other police officers, including retired Superintendent of Police Tony Fernandes participated in the celebration.
The celebrations later culminated in the traditional procession taken out from the district police headquarters before returning to the headquarters after wending its way through the heart of the town.
