Four persons were injured when a mango tree fell on a house at Adulshe-Borim on Thursday night.
The tree fell on the house of Khumno Satarkar and as family members were rushing out of the house, some roof tiles fell on them, injuring four family members. Three children, however, escaped unhurt.
Those who were injured were Khumno Satarkar (41), Tejaswi Satarker (40), Sarita Satarkar (31) and Saloni Satarkar (10). They were taken to the Shiroda Primary Health Centre and treated.
On Friday morning, firefighters went to the site and cleared the tree from the house.
According to sources, the tree had been in a precarious position for the past few years and the local panchayat had been informed about the matter. Given the high cost to fell the tree, no action was taken.
The damaged to the house has been estimated at Rs 6-7 lakh.
Meanwhile, a number of trees have fallen on the roads at various places due to heavy rains in the area. The Ponda fire services have been at work to at various places to remove the fallen trees.
