Six persons have been booked for attempt to murder after two youth from Nachinola were severely assaulted with hockey sticks and bottles at Olaulim-Pomburpa in the wee hours of Thursday. The attack is believed to have occurred due to ongoing enmity between the two groups.According to Mapusa police, the incident took place at about 12.15 am when the two youth, Pundalik Bordekar and Salvador Ferrao, had gone to Pomburpa on a bike. Six persons on three bikes stopped them on the slope of Olaulim.
They allegedly abused the duo and hit them with hockey sticks and alcohol bottles, leaving them seriously injured.
Bordekar and Ferrao were later shifted to the Mapusa district hospital for treatment.
The suspects had worn masks on their faces but the victims have identified two of the four culprits as Sandip Kandolkar and Navnath Kandolkar.
The police, on the basis of the complaint, registered by victim’s brother Kalidas Bordekar, have registered an offence of murder attempt against Sandip Kandolkar, Navnath Kandolkar and four others under sections 307, 341, 504, 324, 506 (2), 427 and 34. The suspect are absconding and police are on the lookout for them. Further investigation is being conducted under the supervision of PI Yashwant Mandrekar.
