Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said, the people should not unnecessarily oppose everything and impede development projects.
“People should not oppose projects unnecessarily and create any hindrance to development work,” Sawant said.
The chief minister's comments come in the context of last Sunday's gram sabha resolution in Loliem opposing the much touted 'Film City' project which the local Comunidade had welcomed and even offered the nearly 200-odd acres of land on the Bhagwati plateau there.
Another project which has triggered a wave of dissent from local residents is the revived 'marina project' at Naushim which Sawant said, was "preferable" over setting up a proper port in the State.
Acknowledging the sentiment of opponents of development projects that the aesthetics of Goa's towns and countryside be retained, Sawant said development projects are also essential for the State.
He said, opposing anything and everything is incorrect but constructive criticism is acceptable.
Meanwhile, on the Mhadei issue expected to be taken up by the Supreme Court on Wednesday (November 29), he said the State's case is strong evidence wise.
The legal team has taken a review of the matter and is focused on the issue, he added.
