The Santa Cruz panchayat led by Sarpanch Jennifer Oliveira inspected the Bondvoll Lake after water was drained by unknown miscreants.

Later speaking to reporters, Oliveira informed that the panchayat will write to the WRD and the Old Goa police seeking action against the culprit.

“We are going to attach the inspection report along with the complaint letter,” she added, while condemning the incident of draining the lake water.

Former deputy sarpanch Domnic Pereira said the panchayat will move to install CCTV near the valve to ensure that such incident does not happen in the future.

“We are having our fortnightly meeting on December 5 and we will move resolution to get the CCTV installed,” Pereira stated.

Pereira then stated that everybody is aware of the culprits who are involved in the act.

“Ninety per cent of the people know who is involved as there is farming activity undertaken in the bed of the lake. The police should interrogate the persons who have undertaken the farming activity,” Pereira demanded.

“We can’t do the investigation and in our complaint to the police, we are going to mention about the farming activity so that those who have undertaken the same are interrogated,” Pereira stated.

Other panchas who remained present included Amabelle Gomes, Perpetua D’Souza, Rosy Fernandes, Sandip Sawant and others were present.
