While beleaguered Margao Municipal Chairperson on Thursday put in his papers a day before the no-trust motion was to come up for discussion on Friday morning, the 15-member BJP-backed councillors are all expected to come to the Municipality in strength and support the motion by clear majority.
For, sources pointed out that failure to prove majority vote during the vote of confidence may only pave the way for the return of Ganashyam back in the saddle.
Reason: Though the MMC chairperson has sent in his resignation on Friday, the same would come into effect only after a period of seven days. In the event, the BJP-backed councillors do not come to the civic body and support the motion with a majority vote, Ganashyam will have the option of withdrawing his resignation before it comes into effect after seven days.
