Environment Secretary Arun Kumar Mishra informed that all 11 rivers in the State will be made pollution free by March 2023.
Speaking at a Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) function in Saligao on Saturday, Kumar said, "We have set a target to ensure all rivers are pollution free by March, 2023. Already, 5 rivers have been made pollution free."
Kumar further said the GSPCB has a role to ensure that the local bodies as well as the industries work on hygiene, work upon discharge of sewage, ensure toilets.
Stating that it is the people who are responsible for the pollution, Kumar urged for working on facilitation to ensure pollution does not happen.
"I would urge that GSPCB provide all MLAs with a list of households where there are no toilets, soak pits, etc," he added.
