Three persons involved in betting on the ongoing IPL matches in the United Arab Emirates were arrested late Saturday night and over Rs 8,000 and some electronic items were seized from their possession, Calangute Police said.
All three accused are residents of Hyderabad.
The trio was arrested during a raid by police in a flat in Candolim where the accused were betting on IPL cricket match played between Rajasthan Royale and Royal Challengers, Bengalaru, Calangute Police said.
The accused were identified as Bhanu P (21), Raju Rao (34) and Shahi Kiran (33) all residents of Hyderabad.
Police said besides Rs 8,400 in cash, three mobiles and one laptop were also recovered from the accused.
A case has been registered against the trio for contravening section 3 and 4 of the Goa Public Gambling Act.
The accused were subsequently released on bail after furnishing sureties to the tune of Rs 10,000.
The Calangute Police team that conducted the raid was led by PI Nolasco Raposo along with PSI Vikas Deykar, Head Constable Vinod Naik and Police Constable Suresh Naik.
It may be recalled a couple of days back Calangute Police had raided a villa in Candolim and arrested five persons for IPL betting.
