A major breakdown of the main pipeline between Opa and Panaji at Bhoma on Tuesday has disrupted water supply to the whole of Tiswadi taluka which will begin normalizing only from Christmas eve.
The DI main conveying pipeline of 900 mm diameter ruptured at Muslim wada in Bhoma on Tuesday. Two days earlier there was another breakdown of the pipeline at Banastarim.
A top official of the Public Works Department’s (PWD) water supply division said work to repair the breach at Borim will be completed by midnight on Wednesday.
Officially, the PWD has said that due to the breakdown at Bhoma, the supply will be restricted to Panaji, Taleigao, St Cruz and St Andre constituencies on Wednesday and Thursday.
Supply to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim and also to the Defence establishments there will be affected, it said.
