The Mapusa fire personnel, on Monday, recovered the body of a man who was washed away in River Tar in Mapusa.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death in this connection.
The incident came to light after some people saw a body floating in the Tar River near the Ganesh visarjan platform and accordingly informed the authorities.
Mapusa fire personnel rushed at the spot and fished out the body and handed it over to the police for further investigation. Mapusa Police conducted the panchanama and shifted the body to the Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim for autopsy.
The deceased was identified as one, Mayur Prabhudessai, who was residing at Peddem and was a native of Malpem, Virnoda.
The deceased was missing since Sunday noon.
