A major fire in the early hours of Monday gutted Parshuram Metaux factory located at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate.
Fire services have pegged losses due to the destruction of the property at several lakhs of rupees.
The factory is reported to be manufacturing brake pad powder for vehicles. Both finished goods as well as raw material were gutted in the inferno.
Fire personnel told the media that the Cuncolim fire brigade received a call in the early hours of Monday. Since the factory was engulfed in a major fire, the Cuncolim fire brigade sent messages requisitioning the services of fire brigades from Curchorem, Margao and Verna.
No one, however, was injured in the incident.
Senior Fire Officer Deputy Director R Haldankar along with senior officials visited the Cuncolim Industrial Estate to take stock of the situation.
