CANACONA
Rallies, prayer services and celebrations were held across Canacona taluka as people of different faiths commemorated the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Shri Ramlalla in the newly built Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya.
Various programmes were celebrated in 75 big and small temples all over Canacona.
Devotees had prepared cut-outs of Sri Rama and these cut-outs were erected along with colourful lights and decorations. Orange-coloured flags were put up in the main market and various placess in the taluka.
Padyatras were taken with the cut-outs and images of Sri Rama were mounted on vehicles across the various villages in the taluka.
Canconkars from different religions spontaneously participated in large numbers at various rallies, processions and various other functions organised in Canacona on the auspicious occasions of “Ram Pran Pratishtha” ceremony.
Hindus, Muslims and Catholics in Canacona spontaneously participated in various functions organised on the occasion.
Natividade De Sa, Sherafine Fernandes, Aktar Sharadin, Imtiyaz Shaikh and many others from the minority community willingly participated in various ceremonies.
A chariot procession was staged in the municipal area, starting from the KTC Bus Stand at Chaudi.
Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar and Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaonkar launched the procession by offering garlands to the image of Lord Rama.
Those present at the procession included CMC Vice Chairperson Narciso Fernandes, Councillors Dhiraj Naik Gaonkar, Sara Desai, Goa State BJP Secretary Sarvanand Bhagat, South Goa Vice President Mahesh Naik, Canacona BJP Mandal President Vishal Desai and sarpanchas of various panchayats.
Also present included Congress leader Janardhan Bhandari, GCA Vice President Shamba Desai, Babesh Borkar, Shri Mallikarjun Devalaya Committee President Vithoba Desai, Pankaj Naik Gaonkar and others.
Thousands of Shriram devotees participated in this procession, while traders from the Rajasthani community also kept their shops closed and participated in the procession. The Rajasthan Samaj Samiti donated Rs 51,000 for the procession.
In the evening, a Dindi procession was staged from Chawdi to Shristhal Mallikarjuna Devalaya by the Sanghatit Kankonkars.
Various communities staged two-wheeler processions in different parts of Canacona.
Canacona taluka turned saffron on Monday as youth from all locations in Canacona were seen wearing saffron clothes.
Processions and padyatras with chariots were staged from the Shri Partagal Mutt, and other temples of Poinguinim, besides Maxem, Galgibaga, Shristhal, Agonda and Khola.
