The ongoing campaign of Congress candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat, Captain Viriato Fernandes received a further boost in the Nuvem Assembly segment with former minister Mickky Pacheco extending support to his candidature.

In fact, Mickky shared the dais of a corner meeting organised in support of Capt Viriato in his home village of Betalbatim on Monday, wherein he gave a call to the voters of Betalbatim village in particular and Nuvem constituency in general to come out in large numbers and cast their vote for the Congress candidate.

Saying Goa is in need of candidates such as Captain Viriato to "protect the State from further destruction", Mickky urged the Congress candidate to take up the issue of dual citizenship for Goans if he is elected to the Lok Sabha.

Slamming the BJP for the rising crimes in the State, including rapes of children and murders, Mickky said the law and order situation has deteriorated during the 10-year rule of the BJP.

Addressing the meeting, former UGDP senior leader Adv Radharao Gracias said the time has come for Goans to cast their vote in favour of Captain Viriato and send the Congress candidate to Delhi to protect the interests of the State.

Captain Viriato made a fervent plea to the people of South Goa to come out in large numbers a la Tsunami on May 7 to cast their vote and "save the State from destruction". He assured the people that he would take up the issue of dual citizenship for Goans in the Parliament after his election.
