Margao Municipal Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar has said the Margao Civic Chief Damu Shirodkar cannot decide where he should sit in the civic body in the event the Chairperson executes his threat to lock his chamber as announced at the media briefing.
‘I do not know whether the Municipal Chairperson can lock the Chamber of the Chief Officer. But, even if he decides to do so, the Chairperson cannot compel me to sit in the Chairperson’s chamber or anywhere else. I have the right to take my own decision in such an eventuality”, Sankwalkar added.
On the Chairperson’s charge that he has made the drivers the scapegoat for the leachate flow at Sonsodo, the CO shot back, “I have been told that the Municipal engineer had cautioned the drivers over the leachate. Despite the warning, there was no action. Hence, I have issued memos to three persons, including the drivers over the leachate flow”, he said.
