The ongoing Goa Assembly session saw a sharp focus on the State’s aviation sector as legislators sought granular data on flight operations at both Dabolim and Mopa airports.
Vasco MLA Sankalp Amonkar and Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginaldo demanded a comprehensive breakdown of domestic, international, and chartered flights, along with passenger numbers, for both airports over the past few years. Their query also included details on flight cancellations from Dabolim and the government's response to the situation.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant partially addressed the legislators' concerns, providing data for Mopa Airport since its commencement of operations. According to the CM, Mopa has handled 19,062 domestic flights, 323 international flights, and 87 chartered flights, carrying a total of 2,943,602 passengers. However, the CM did not provide the requested data for Dabolim Airport or address the issue of flight cancellations.
