Alleging that BJP Government is responsible for deaths of 2,840 Goans due to Covid, the Congress on Tuesday demanded judicial inquiry into the total deaths which have taken place in Goa since March 2020 and overall handling of Covid Pandemic by the government.

Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress president Beena S. Naik, Youth Congress president Adv Varad Mardolkar, Seva Dal Chief Shankar Kirlaparkar were also present for the press conference.
"The conflicting figures of Covid positive patients as well as the repeated goof ups in reporting Covid deaths, deliberate use of Ivermectin tablets against World Health Organisation guidelines have now exposed that the BJP Government completely failed in handling Covid pandemic and converted Goa into Covid destination by pushing Goans into Covid death trap," said Panjikar.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane converted Goa into "testing laboratory" and used Goans as "guinea pigs", charged Amarnath Panjikar.
How can Government now admit that 67 deaths in private hospitals remained unreported for a long period of nine months from August 5, 2020 to May 22, 2021, questioned Amarnath Panjikar.
BJP Government tried to manipulate figures of Covid positivity as well as deaths to create an artificial feeling of "Acche Din" to push their mission of show must go on; thus allowing Ministers as well as party functionaries to make fortunes from business of sickness, Amarnath Panjikar stated.
The withdrawal of Ivermectin treatment by Union Health Ministry is a slap on the face of Health Minister. Congress Party had objected on day one over use of the said tablets without clinical trials, but both Chief Minister and Health Minister pushed them indluging in Rs 22.50 crore scam, Panjikar said.
Mahila Congress President Beena Naik said that BJP Government has failed to commission the oxygen plant at Goa Medical College till date despite hundreds of patients dying due to shortage of oxygen.
How can private hospitals manage to get vaccines from different manufacturers, when Goa Government is struggling to procure adequate stock of vaccines, questioned Varad Mardolkar.
Mardolkar demanded that Chief Minister must declare the data of all the families to whom the government has released till date of the total compensation of Rs 6 lakhs comprising of Rs 4 lakhs announced by the Prime Minister and Rs 2 lakhs by the State Government.
