Suchana Seth's estranged husband Venkatraman refused to speak to her in the cell at Calangute police station as he appeared before the investigation team for the recording of his statement on Saturday.
The police, however, made a face-to-face confrontation between the couple for around 15 minutes.
Suchana is undergoing custodial interrogation where Venkatraman, accompanied by his lawyer, deposed against her for over 6-8 hours.
The PhD Physics scholar informed the police that Suchana had violated the Bengaluru Family Court’s order by avoiding the father-son meeting for five Sundays. Sources said that he explained to the police how he made frantic calls to her every Sunday in a bid to meet his son, which was scheduled for around eight hours as per the Court order.
The Goan was the first to report on January 11 that Suchana had not allowed her ex-husband to meet their son the entire December 2023 month despite a Court order. Venkatraman would even visit her house every Sunday of that month but in vain.
It was a day before the fifth Sunday on January 7 that she booked a trip to Goa to evade him again after which Venkatraman flew to Indonesia for work. The “holiday” from January 6-10 was allegedly with the murder plan, executed minutes after Venkatraman spoke to his son on a video call after several desperate calls on her mobile phone.
The source said that Suchana sang a lullaby for her son after sedating him with an overdose of cough syrup in the Candolim's service apartment on the fateful day. Thereafter, she allegedly smothered him with a pillow or other object and booked a cab to abruptly leave for Bengaluru via road around 1 am on January 8.
